Winter Skin 101
Arctic air and central heating are not doing your skin any favors, but there are some simple steps you can take to be kind to your skin even when the weather is not.
#1. Moisturize more. Winter environments indoor and outdoor are dryer than other months, so help your skin maintain its moisture with a quality moisturizer.
#2 Sunscreen is not just for the beach. Winter sun and snow glare can damage your skin, promote wrinkles and contribute to premature aging, so use a broad spectrum sunscreen every day.
#3 Hydrate more. Healthy skin is not all lotions and potions. Simply drinking more fluids will help your skin (and body) stay healthier this winter.
#4 Adjust your routine to match the weather. Chemical Peels, Retin A, and alpha hydroxy acids, are skincare mainstays that can help your skin look younger and be healthier. One, if not all of these should be part of your skincare toolkit, but if you are new to these products or prone to irritation remember to go slow during winter months. Going skiing next week? Have fun on the slopes and save your chemical peel for after you get back.
