Which is Better Kybella or CoolSculpting?
In January we wrote a blog titled “What can I do about my neck?” When we published that blog 11 months ago we listed three options 1) Necklift 2) Laser Liposuction 3) Subdermal Tightening. At the time these were the best options and they were all surgical options. Since that time not one, but two FDA cleared treatments for submental fat have hit the market, and neither require surgery. Coolsculpting’s CoolMini lets you freeze your way to a better jawline while Allergan’s fat dissolving injectable Kybella will melt away your double chin. Both procedures are safe, effective, and so easy you can schedule them on your lunch break.
Kybella gained FDA approval in late summer and joins Allergan’s other powerhouse injectables (Botox, Juvederm, and Voluma). It is best suited for patients with mild to moderate submental fat. Treatment consists of a series of tiny injections. These injections literally digest submental fat to produce a noticeable reduction in submental fat in as little as two treatments.
Coolsculpting is the ideal treatment for patients with moderate to severe submental fat. The fat freezing technology has been shaping the abdomen, flanks, and thighs for years and now offers these same results for chin and neck fat reduction.
Kybella or CoolMini. Which is right for me? During your consultation we will determine whether you are a better Kybella or Coolsculpting candidate. Treatments are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart and can be complete in as little as two sessions (although it may take additional treatments to reach your goal).
Neither of these will replace the results you can get with a neck lift, but they can give you liposuction like results without surgery. The results are gradual so no one needs to know you had anything done. The only thing they will notice is that you look like you’ve lost weight and your face has a more defined jawline.
