What Can Botox Do? What Can’t It? And How Do I Get the Best Results?
Botox is the number one cosmetic procedure worldwide…..by a long shot. It’s quick, its safe, and it provides excellent results. Still, if you are considering Botox injections you need to understand what it can do and what it can’t do.
What can Botox do?
The most common Botox treatment areas are the “Angry 11’s” between the brows and Crowsfeet. Off label treatments include the horizontal forehead lines, bunny lines (those small lines on the side of the nose), lip and frown lines. You can even treat neck bands, pore size and skin tone with Botox micro injections. Already getting Botox for your 11’s or crowsfeet and like the results? See what else Botox has to offer.
What can’t Botox do?
Botox works by relaxing muscles under the skin. Why is this important? Because muscle contraction is what develops wrinkles in the first place. If you already have deep set wrinkles Botox can keep them from getting worse, but it won’t fill in the wrinkle. For that you’ll need to consider dermal fillers, laser treatments, or skin tightening procedures. Remember, Botox is a relaxer, not a filler.

How do you get the best Botox results?
For starters, plan ahead. If you have a big event coming up and are new to Botox you should plan your injections at least 6 weeks prior to the event and preferably longer. Botox can take 5-7 days to take affect and sometimes you need a touch up to get the results you want.
If you’ve had Botox with a different doctor make sure you let Dr. Mess know what areas were treated, how many units you received and when you were last treated. The information will help Dr. Mess plan your procedure and make sure you get the right treatment the first time.
How much does Botox cost?
We charge $14 per unit of Botox, and we only use Allergan Cosmetic Botox. Charging by the unit means you only pay for what you need. Because we only use Allergan Cosmetic Botox you can participate in the Brilliant Distinctions reward program and save on every Allergan treatment.
How do I get Botox, and well, you know……not look like I’ve had Botox?
With Botox, more is not always better. First time Botox users should start slow. You can always come in for a touch up if you want more correction. It’s the easiest way to make sure you get the look you want instead of the “Frozen” look you don’t.
What should I do if my Botox doesn’t look right?
